Folkarria eco Festi-bal is a folk music festival.

Folkarria is a festival of traditional European music and dance that has been held for 13 years.

The folk, music and social dances aim to open up spaces of encounter and generate community networks in which to learn, recover traditional knowledge and reinforce the links between the past and the present, the lived experience and the impact of our passage through the world.

Throughout the weekend, our public will be able to enjoy a musical offer of national and international bands, dance workshops and instruments, as well as a wide variety of activities such as projections, traditional crafts in our craft market, performances for children and games.

Cosmos Chocolat is a dance music quartet that takes you on a sweet and savoury journey through the world of traditional music.

Zlabya is an instrumental and sulphurous quintet, using folk music as a playground. Each dance is a new attraction, a new merry-go-round, maid for rejoicement.

Delameseta is roots music with electronics. Tambourines and synthesizers are the basis for the vindication of popular culture.

DUO NIEPOLD/CUTTING (Belgium/England)

The niepold-cutting duo brings together two great musicians and friends. Two strong personalities in the small world of the diatonic accordion. A meeting to challenge, to be inspired.

For 13 years, with some 500 concerts all over Europe and 6 albums, Bal O'Gadjo has been opening and bringing together traditional music and songs from all over the world.

  • * In parallel to the festival programme, we will have an open and free programme of workshops and meetings (percussion, esparto grass circle, textile workshop, projections, radio...) that will take place in the Market area and in the Youth Corner. INDIVIDUAL TICKETS: If you only want to participate in certain workshops and concerts, you can buy your ticket directly at the festival.

* The music workshop has a limited capacity of 20 people and will require prior registration on Saturday 26/04 at 12:00 at the festival reception.

TICKET SALES

ONLINE PRESALE

Ticket sales for "Folkarria eco-Festi-Bal" will be open from 15 January 2025 at a reduced price of 90€ * (first 100 tickets only). After and until 15 April 2025 the online price will be 110€ ** (consult the web other special rates). You can buy also your tickets in the ticket office of the festival whenever there is capacity available at a price of 125€ ***.

If you want to realize the pre-registration to ensure your participation in the courses and concerts, in addition to the discount corresponding to the general charge for the full weekend, it will be convenient to buy your ticket in advance.

The festival offers an option for free accommodation in the gym of Torres de la Alameda which includes toilets and showers.
When purchasing online tickets, please also request a place in the gym along with your tickets. Participants must bring their own mats, sleeping bags and towels.

RECEPTION

The ticket sales at the festival will be available at the reception of the festival.

The reception of the festival will remain open during the following hours:

Friday 6:00 pm - 12:00 pm
Saturday 11:00 am - 2:30 pm
5:00 pm - 12:00 pm
Sunday 11:00 am - 2:30 pm

Outside these hours you can buy your ticket at the entrance door of the workshop or concert.

Information of Interest

The festival will take place in the Recinto Ferial of Torres de la Alameda (Madrid) . This town is 30 minutes by car from the center of Madrid.

During all a weekend, from 25th to 27th April 2025, Torres de la Alameda will invite to enjoy this great event designed to recover and disseminate traditional dances and the european folk music, a major challenge for the integration in diferent cultures based also in the active participation of the public.

Open to the Public Activities

During the festival, in parallel to the official music and dance programme, various free open workshops will be held:

  • - Workshops on traditional crafts taught by craftswomen participating in the market (esparto grass, spoon making, cyanotype).
  • - Textile recycling workshop by Planeta Dots.
  • - World dance workshop given by the Madrigueira Folk collective.
  • - Bal Folk workshop given by the Juanra Campos
  • - Projection of the documentary BiciFolk and subsequent discussion with the filmmaker.
  • - Traditional percussion workshop for all ages.
  • - Traditional games for children.
  • - Storytelling by the artist Ainhoa Limón.

WHERE TO SLEEP

The festival offers an option for free accommodation in a camping area (outdoor roofed space) in the municipal sports facilities of Torres de la Alameda, which includes toilets and showers of the municipal swimming pool. When purchasing online tickets, please also request a place in the gym along with your tickets. Participants must bring their own tents, mats, sleeping bags, etc.

WHAT TO EAT

In the Bar of the Festival during all the weekend there will be food and drinks. There will be vegetarian and meat sandwiches, pies, croissants, snacks...as well as coffee, sodas, teas, wines, beers, etc. Preferably from organic or local production.

In the restaurants of Torres de la Alameda you can find several menus and taste different and rich delicacies.

FROM MADRID
Go to the Avenida de América metro station where there is an intercity bus line that takes you to Torres de la Alameda:
Line 261: Madrid - Torrejón - Nuevo Baztán - Villar del Olmo, this line has a stop in Torres de la Alameda:

The operator of this line is ARGABÚS.
Another option is to get to Alcalá de Henares from Madrid (Atocha Station) by taking the 'Cercanías Renfe' train, lines C2 and C7. 'Cercanías Renfe' train, line C2 and C7.

IF YOU ARRIVE TO MADRID BY PLANE
From either of the two metro stations at the Airport take line 8 to 'Colombia' station, here take line 9 to 'Avenida de America' station. Once at Avenida de América station take bus 261 (Madrid Avda. de América-Nuevo Baztanero). (Madrid Avda. de América-Nuevo Baztan-Villar del Olmo) to Torres de la Alameda. The bus journey takes about 45 minutes. You will see information about the festival at the bus station.

FROM ALCALÁ DE HENARES
From Alcalá de Henares there are two intercity bus lines that take you to Torres de la Alameda:
Line 231: Alcalá de Henares - Urbanización Zulema: Timetable for departure and return
Line 232: Alcalá de Henares - Torres de la Alameda: Timetable for departure and return
The operating company for both lines is ALSA.

FROM TORREJÓN DE ARDOZ
Line 261 also passes through Torrejón de Ardoz from Madrid (Avenida de América Station).
